I have provided UX and UI design work for Ambition In Motion (AIM) since 2017. AIM is a small startup company that helps professionals become better leaders by engaging with their team using the AIM Insights program. AIM Insights helps managers monitor and improve the productivity, engagement, and company culture for their teams through monthly polls of team members, 1-on-1 executive coaching, and other guidance.

Role(s) and Responsibilities
I have served as the primary researcher, survey designer, and UX designer for Ambition In Motion since 2017.
Projects
As a contributor to a small start-up, my role involved a diverse set of tasks depending on the current needs of the company and my colleagues. My primary tasks were UX and usability design, analyzing and reporting on data, and the generation of new surveys.
AIM Insights
AIM Insights is the premier product from Ambition In Motion. This tool helps managers connect with their employees through monthly polls on team productivity, custom conversation guides for improving 1-on-1 meetings, and a partnership with an executive coach to help guide managers along the way.
Over the past two years, I worked with the CEO, the development team, and other stakeholders to iteratively design the AIM Insights program from start to the current stage. We initially designed the tool using Microsoft Office Tools like Powerpoint and Microsoft Excel. This allowed us to conduct regular meetings with our technical team to ensure we all agreed on the functional outcomes while Managers actively used each new iteration. This highly customized design process has helped us launch the AIM Insights program without missing a single monthly report for our clients.
Example Mockups
Early iterations of AIM Insights used Microsoft Powerpoint to present a customized report for each manager. Some example snapshots of what that looked like are shown below.

As we built out more features and tested new designs, I also continued to build out a design that represents AIM’s goals and mission. Later examples of my work are shown below.

Work Orientation Survey
I have designed multiple surveys for AIM ranging from typical demographic assessments to novel personality assessments. The most significant like design of new surveys like AIM’s Work Orientation Assessment which has been used by over 4,000 people.
AIM needed a way to improve its mentor-matching program by matching people based on their motivation for working. I worked with Kyle Bradley to develop AIM’s Work Orientation Assessment based on highly-cited research from Amy Wrzesniewski in the Yale School of Management. We developed a 15-question survey to quickly and accurately identify someone’s work orientation, and this survey has now been used over 4,000 times at universities, companies, and leadership seminars.

Other Tasks
In addition to these primary responsibilities, I also served as an all-purpose contributor to the company where needed. For example, I’ve contributed to AIM’s strategy as an active participant in quarterly strategy meetings to help ensure that new company projects fit our goals and mission. I have also helped conduct user interviews to inform company strategy, new features, and potential risks to program success. Across all AIM content, I have served as the primary copy-editor for all text media. Please inquire if you want to know more about my role at AIM.
