Welcome to my personal website. My name is Jacob Oury PhD, and I’m a UX Researcher, UI Designer, and usability expert. My background gives me a strong foundation in the psychological principles of great design, and I’ve used and developed those skills at several companies including Ambition In Motion and L3Harris Technologies.

My primary strengths are in the areas of UX research and User-Centered Design, and I’m proficient in UI design with Axure and Figma. I’m also an excellent critical thinker and problem-solver, and I have significant experience working with diverse teams to tackle new problems.

I like to take on hard problems that are worth the investment on user research. For example, my work with L3Harris supported the design of dashboard interfaces used to monitor asynchronous autonomous vehicles like a Mars Rover. When a situation requires input from the user to avoid damage to the vehicle, we need to know that our users can identify the problem and execute the proper procedure every single time.

(User-Centered Design) is not borne from a humanistic or altruistic desire, but rather from a desire to obtain optimal functioning of the overall human-machine system.
